Cetus is a prominent constellation often referred to as the "Whale" or "Sea Monster." Situated in the "water" region of the sky, near Aquarius, Pisces, and Eridanus and contains the famous variable star Mira. In Greek mythology, it symbolizes the creature sent by Poseidon to consume Princess Andromeda. Commonly illustrated as a sea serpent, whale, or shark-like figure, it was ultimately defeated by the hero Perseus, who wielded Medusa's head to petrify the beast.
