About Us

ōSHen Knits & Fibres is a charming little yarn shop located in the delightful port town of Astoria.

Before transforming into a yarn and craft shop, ōSHen Knits was founded in 2020 as a knitwear design company by Marine Biologist Vanessa Fleming. While spending time at sea, Vanessa discovered a passion for creating knitting patterns that could be customized not just for body size, but also for shape.

Vanessa's vibrant love for colors shone through in her designs. In 2022, she embarked on her yarn dyeing adventure to complement her knitwear creations.

In the summer of 2024, Vanessa took over the space at the corner of 12th and Duane, where she has created a stunning ocean-themed yarn and craft shop, serving as a vital community hub for people to learn and engage in fiber arts.

Since opening in September 2024, ōSHen Knits & Fibres has been filled with so much love and community.

Meet the ōK&F Team

We are an all-woman team that prioritizes love, support and community above all else.

Vanessa

Owner & Yarn Dyer

Find Vanessa most days in the dye studio or puttering around on her beloved 1978 Seaswirl, Lucy Purl. Despite her seven earth placements, she's utterly captivated by the ocean and water. She spent twelve years in fisheries, dedicating herself to ocean conservation, a passion that flows through every skein she dyes. Her work reflects the mystery and beauty of the water that has always called to her.

Becca

Find Becca running the shop most days, she's the heart of our operation, orchestrating everything behind the scenes with grace and intention. Beyond the shop, Becca leads moon circles, tarot readings, and human design classes throughout our local community. She brings warmth and genuine care to every interaction, and her real passion is nurturing the community we've built together at ōSHen Knits & Fibres.

Gabby

Crochet & Knitting Teacher

Gabby joined our team after becoming a cherished member of the ōSHen Knits & Fibres community at Knit Night and Coffee & Crafts. She teaches our popular kids' crafting classes every Monday and supports the team with behind-the-scenes and shop operations. Through her dedication to mentoring young crafters, Gabby has deepened the warmth and connection within our community, helping to inspire the next generation of makers.
